Plantation-grown Teak

A separate pathway for projects that need consistency, larger quantities or specific dimensions. Clearly distinct from our reclaimed range, and supplied with the applicable lot documentation — including SVLK-verified or FSC-certified timber on request. See our Environmental policy.

Two teaks, two different materials

We do not rank them. Each suits different projects, and we label every quotation clearly.

Good to know

Durability depends on the type of teak

Our teak data sheet notes that the durability of plantation teak is lower than that of teak from natural forest. Under the European standard NF EN 350-2, teak from natural forest is classified in natural durability class 1 against fungi, while teak planted in Asia and other countries is classified in classes 1–3.

In practice: for exposed outdoor use, tell us the exposure and we will advise on the right material, finish and maintenance. For interiors and protected areas, plantation teak is a well-established choice.

Ask about the lot. Plantation age and rotation matter: according to our data sheet, long-rotation teak has no juvenile wood and a higher heartwood content than short-rotation teak. Ask for the details of the lot you are considering.

Documentation, stated carefully. We provide the legal documentation applicable to each lot, including SVLK documents where they apply. We do not make absolute environmental claims; ask us for the documents behind a specific lot.

Choosing

Which teak for which project?

Plantation-grown fits when…
  • you need a consistent look across a large area
  • quantities or lengths exceed reclaimed supply
  • the project is interior or protected from weather
Reclaimed fits when…
  • you want the character and patina of a previous life
  • you accept natural variation in colour and marks
  • re-use matters to the project’s story
