Good practice for decking fixings
- Pre-drill pilot holes in dense hardwoods (recommended).
- Use two screws per board at each joist.
- Keep fasteners at least 2.5 cm from the board edge to limit splitting.
- Keep a consistent gap between boards, typically 3 to 10 mm.
- Outdoors, use stainless (A2 / A4) or suitably coated fixings.

Hidden fasteners need the right boards. Hidden decking fasteners such as GAP3 / GAP4 work with grooved boards. Ask us for GnG-profile decking.
